VOCAB

Staging - This is when we take what we've been doing in class and put it on the big stage! Since the rooms we're working with is usually smaller than the actual stage it's important to make sure we know what we're doing on the actual stage! We also use this time to set up our bigger props that we couldn't use in the smaller spaces and set up spike tape to remember where it all goes.

Q2Q (or cue to cue) -
This is to make sure that our tech crew can adjust our performers mic volumes and change anything so that everyone can hear (or no one gets their eardrums burst!) during the actual show. No matter if you sing loud or quiet we want to make sure you sound beautiful! As well this is when we test the lights to make sure that it all looks good and everyone can be seen on stage.

Dress Rehearsal -
This is when we run through the whole show top to bottom in full costume, makeup and everything! There's limited stopping during dress rehearsal and it's to make sure that everything is going well and that we're all prepared.

Black Base -
This means wearing all black for feminine presenting people usually we see black shorts, tights, black tank and black shoes but for masculine presenting people usually its a black tee-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

How to prepare for tech week:

Clear your schedules as much as possible!
This means making sure you don't schedule over tech week times when you're needed or making sure you understand when you are needed. Make sure that you're taking some time for yourself to clear your mind and destress. Tech week takes up a lot of time and can be a lot of stop-and-go which can easily get exhausting. <3

Get any supplies you may need!
For example: Costume pieces, Makeup, Script, Bobbypins, hairspray, hairbrush, makeup wipes, light snacks (that don't stain costumes), water/sports drinks, lozenges, deodorant, phone/ipad/computer chargers, things to entertain yourself with during breaks, anything else you may need to maintain your health.

Make sure you know your stuff!
If you know your lines, blocking, set move assignments, and vocal parts then it will help your tech crew be able to do their jobs and make sure we use the time in the theatre for things we could only do in the theatre.

Make sure you're taking care of yourself!

Always make sure that food, water and sleep are a priority

Stretch and warm up before rehearsal and shows

🧘 ⭐ ❤️

Minimize stress as much as possible
🫶 🎭 🎤 🎶 🎵
Take care of any sicknesses and injuries
🚿 🧼 🫧 ❤️‍🩹
Maintain personal hygiene (this will help your mind and body)

And last but not least make sure to enjoy yourselves and have fun!
