SPEND YOUR SUMMER AT CFPA
CFPA SUMMER CAMPS
Camps will run from 9am to 4pm with an hour for a supervised lunch, which campers will bring with them; there is a microwave available. Morning 9AM to 12PM and Afternoon 1PM to 4PM sessions are also available. Early drop off and late pick up available at additional cost. All camps will take place at the CFPA Studio on 4 Hops Street (Alexandria Building) in Manuels. Every Friday there will be a performance by the campers. CFPA Camps are small (maximum of 30 campers) to give our campers an opportunity to build relationships and receive individualized instruction.
|
CFPA is focused on building confidence, creating an accepting and encouraging community, and fostering the courage to try new things, all skills that our campers will take with them everywhere they go. Camps are inclusive and open to all levels. No previous experience is needed--in fact, it's the perfect way to gauge interest for fall programs. Our ratios and guidelines will comply with the latest advice given by the Gov of NL. In the event of a provincial cancelation due to COVID-19, refunds will be issued. Camps are available to ages 5-17, depending on the camp. If your child requires support or assistance to participate in programs, please email admin@cfpanl.com

MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP
*CFPA's most popular camp!*
Sing, dance, act, perform and create -- let's put off a musical in a week!
Expect even more than triple threat training! Campers will not only learn to sing, dance and act, but they will get messy by creating the advertisements, sets and props for their musical. Each camper will receive a role in the musical, with the option to take on as much or as little as they wish. For example, if Sadie is a dancer but a shy singer, she may have a dance solo in our show and sing in the ensemble. If Keira is an amazing artist, she may have a role in the musical, as well as take the lead in designing the prop and set building. If Kate has a talent for memorization, she may have the most lines! The musical will be chosen on the first day of camp after we meet our campers to ensure it is the perfect fit for them. Each week of Musical Theatre Camp will be different; feel free to enrol in both weeks as we will be tackling different material! Campers will learn a 30-60 minute musical to perform for a limited audience on Friday. No experience necessary. Available to campers age 5-15.
SONGWRITING
Enjoying musical freedom, self expression and creativity.
In the improvisation portion [morning session, 9am to 12pm], we will improvise using different musical mediums such as the piano, the voice, and percussion. We will talk about the world history behind musical improvisation and how it can positively affect the mind and body, as well as how improvisation can express a wide array of emotion. Improvisation will allow for musical freedom without self-judgement or worry of it sounding "good", "bad", "right" or "wrong". In this group, we will explore concepts such as popular chord patterns, harmony and learn how to create melodies that work within certain key signatures. In the songwriting section, we will take what we have learned and played with that morning to create our own songs, instrumental or with lyrics, depending on the camper. We will work on fostering each child's individual creativity and build confidence to share their ideas within the group. We will also work as a group which will build skills in team work, compromise and listening. The final show will include a group number written by the campers, and a solo song each, whether it be an improvisation or original song, if they are comfortable. There is no skill level required to participate. Available to campers age 7-15.
ROCK BAND
Live your dream of leading a band! Making music, friends and memories.
Are you ready to rock? Campers will have a blast putting together a 30-60 minute show for Friday's performance. Campers will have the opportunity to decide everything about their band: style, song selection, band name, the script for the performance and their "look". They will create, style and advertise their band, compromising to meet everyone's individual needs. Our counsellors will arrange the song selections to meet each individual camper's needs: there is no skill level requirement and any child at any level can participate. Campers will learn not only how to play and perform their pieces on their desired instruments, but they will explore new instruments and (safely following all COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions) sing as a group. Campers, without even realizing it, will have a better understanding of music theory, music literacy and harmony. Now THAT rocks! CFPA is looking to fill the following roles: vocals, percussion, bass, guitar, ukulele, piano. Available to campers age 5-15. Campers will be in cohorts according to their age. This is a four day camp; campers will receive a 20% discount on their camp fees.
ACTING
Let's put off a play in a week!
This is the perfect camp for anyone who loves to tell stories on stage! Campers will love deciding together which play they will be performing at the end of the week for a live audience. Campers will learn how to create and develop characters through acting games and script reading. Each camper will have a role in the final production. They will be designing and creating their own sets, advertisements and costumes. Campers will rehearse their plays through out the week, but also enjoy playing acting games that help build skills. Available to campers age 5-15. Campers will be in cohorts according to their age.
BROADWAY DANCE
For everyone who loves to dance, this camp is for you!
Explore different styles of dance like ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and hip hop. Taught at an open level, this camp will provide a stronger, technical focus on all the different dance styles often performed in all the musicals and movies we adore. Take your performance skills to the next level and gain more experience with picking up, creating and performing choreography. Campers will also love playing games, creating and designing their costumes, and learning their choreography for the end of week dance recital. Available to campers age 5-15. Campers will be in cohorts according to their age.
