What is alice by heart about?
CONTENT WARNING FOR MUSICAL: Psychological Theme (such as delusions and depression), Dark themes (death, loss), Sexual Content & Drug use
From the award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.
As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times. –MTI, with whom Alice by Heart is presented through arrangement.

Is there an age restriction on this production
Alice by Heart explores sensitive topics such as war, death, illness, body image, bullying, and substance/drug use. Participants must be at least 13 years old at the time of auditions. There are also certain age restrictions for certain characters due to the content. Parents are encouraged to determine whether it is appropriate for their teen before their teen auditions. Two roles (Young Alfred and Young Alice) may be considered in younger ages, but this will be determined at a later date.
This is one of our first full length productions, so we hope to be able to do more in future years for a variety of ages, including our younger students!

What Can involvement look like
Involvement can look like a couple different things...
You will either be casted in a Lead role, Ensemble role or a more Dance Heavy role. This will be determined by auditions in July/August.

What's the time commitment?
Registration: May 15, 2024 (Current CFPA Students)
Auditions Due: July 15, 2024
Dance Call: TBA August 2024
Call-back Date: TBA August 2024
Show Dates: June 6/7/8 2025 - Majestic Theatre (Tech Week begins May 31)
Rehearsals: Saturdays: 1:30-3:30 p.m.
At the CFPA Studio
Sundays: 9:00am – 1:00 p.m.
At Paradise Double Ice Complex
Except in emergencies, all rehearsal conflicts, and potential conflicts, must be stated in writing at the time of registration. Actors will be called to every rehearsal and are expected to keep these times open. Lead actors will be required at extra rehearsals with their scene partners
If your attendance or commitment to the production is considered to be a problem by the artistic or production team, your participation in the production may be affected, up to and including your removal from the production. For this reason, we strongly recommend you consider this commitment and if this particular season is a good fit for you!
