COVID UPDATE

last updated: january 12, 2022

covid-19 information

This plan is continuously being updated with the most recent restrictions and guidelines issued by the government of NL.

thank you for staying informed

Welcome

You will find important studio information here. Find your information directly at the source!
We will keep you informed on studio closures, guidelines and whether we are teaching virtually or in person.

THE plan

FRIDAY UPDATES will be released here. Please save this page for your convenience. Your safety and reliable good communication is our top priority. We hope you commit to checking weekly for updates, and it becomes an easy place to find information. We will also email our registered students.
PLEASE NOTE:
The move to virtual will not be permanent. We are prepared. Please stay diligent, reduce contacts, follow all sanitary measures and reach out to us if you need anything. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. There is great strength in connection and community. We have made friendships that are genuine, built on not just acceptance, but the celebration of our differences and uniqueness. CFPA strives to be a foundation, a resting place for our students to play, create, escape and enjoy each other. As always, we hope this time is short, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in the studio again.

UPDATE - JANUARY 12, 2022
frequently asked questions page added

The 1-1 coaching sessions in studio and virtually have been going very well!
If you missed a 1-1 session, no need to worry - log in to your My Music Staff Portal to see who you have been assigned as a 1-1 Mentor. You can view this in the Calendar (Left Side Menu); your instructor's name & email will be written on your 1-1 appointment time slot. Please email to check in with them if you missed your 1-1 session. The first session is so important! We will help you set up your Student MMS Portal account, guide you through your role and online materials, and check in with you to see how you are handling the transition online!

A Frequently Asked Questions page has been added to the studio website, including a place to ask questions, in addition to:

UPDATE - january 3, 2022

1 on 1 private students will be permitted in person. You may also stay home and have a zoom lesson. Please email cfperformanceacademy@gmail.com so we can switch your lesson from in person to virtual, if this is your preferred option.

CFPA will alter the withdrawal policy, effective immediately, to be 14 days during the level 3-4 period
. Withdrawal form must be submitted through the website. An in-person or zoom private session option will be offered upon submission of withdrawal form in case the student would like to continue privately with a one on one instructor. If not interested, we will process the withdrawal.

We understand students may want private-virtual or one-on-one in-person sessions instead of virtual group learning for the time being. Please email cfperformanceacademy@gmail.com if you have any questions about this.

Songs From Broadway 6:
Please understand that if your child is removed from their virtual group class, they will not be able to have a role in SFB5. If your child is  participating in the show, continue their enrolment in their group class.

program objectives

A seamless transition

OUR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES HAVE NOT CHANGED. The move to virtual will not affect our current program objectives. Currently, in all classes, we are working toward a performance that will expand over multiple days to reduce contact between audience and performers. We have this opportunity now to learn all of our music, acting motivation, review lines and memorize, and prepare for our return to person where we will finish blocking/choreography.

BROADWAY DIVISION -- Advanced Performance and Drama (APD), Open Performance (OP), Dance Chorus (DC): we have casted our show medleys! We will be introducing our classes to their roles, the script, the music, and how the show will fit together during the first week of online classes. For week 2, Broadway instructors will prepare an online set of materials for students to learn in memos and videos that will be linked to the CFPA Youtube channel for easy access at home. Links will be put into our Script (google document) that students can click on to view their parts, similar to how the Christmas show was set up! Check back here for links.

PRIVATE STUDENTS can learn in person, or virtually, on an individual case by case basis.

ALL ACTING & PRODUCING & PRODUCTION classes will be working toward a variety of objectives this upcoming semester. Heather and Connor have a lot prepared - talks of film creation, iMovie operation, becoming more involved in producing our own mini films, learning how to do stop motion, continuation of our film and scene studies (which were very popular!) and more. There is still space available in these classes if these skills interest you!

ALL UKE/POP BANDS will meet individually with their instructors for 20 minutes over Zoom in private sectional sessions to learn music so that when we meet in person, classes will be prepared for ensemble playing.

please check back every friday to view the most recent update.

additional info

  • RECITALS: All of our registered students will be performing at the Songs From Broadway 6 event this year.
  • SONGS FROM BROADWAY 6: We are currently working on solidifying dates for our performance. We are looking to put off SFB6 in April or May this year.
  • WEATHER CLOSURES: Should the studio close due to a storm, power outage, “act of God”, we do not issue make ups for those sessions. Any closures will be announced via email to all students that are scheduled for that day, in addition to our Facebook page (Courtney Fowler Performance Academy). If our emails are often sent to spam, please check our FB page.
