Biography
Born and raised in St. John's - Sophie Rowe is a student at Memorial University, and has been performing most of her life. She discovered at a young age that dance fuelled her energetic and performative personality, and began taking lessons at the age of 5. Sophie has experience in many dance styles, but her favorites include modern, hip hop, jazz, ballet, and musical theatre.
You may have seen Sophie in local musicals such as Seussical the Musical (2009), Cats (2011), Godspell (2012), and Shrek (2013) - each through Etcetera Productions. Sophie joined the Mount Pearl Show Choir when she was 12, with whom she performed in Etcetera’s 25-32 as a choir member. She was featured as a dance soloist a number of times in various Etcetera shows. Sophie travelled and preformed with the show choir to countries like Japan, Russia, Amsterdam, Austria, and on Royal Caribbean's Legend of the Seas cruise ship. Sophie has also performed with 'The Company' of Etcetera productions in shows such as Circus Glorious and Our Divas Do Christmas.
Sophie has always been gravitated towards art, in its many forms, and feels that she is someone who was 'created to create'. Through dance, Sophie believes we are able to create in a way that has no rules, and simply - feels good! In Sophie's dance space, she prioritizes making students feel safe, confident, and excited to move - this means no student should apologize for their ability level. She teaches at a pace that is fun, while also allowing students to advance their technique. Sophie is so excited to be joining Courtney Fowler Performance Academy as a dance instructor and can't wait to meet you!
