HYBRID LEARNING PLAN EXPLAINED
This format of learning is being used in THE BROADWAY PERFORMANCE PROGRAM,
which encompasses APD (Advanced Performance & Drama), OP (Open Performance) and DC (Dance Chorus) classes.
JUNIOR & SENIOR BAND, SONGWRITING & POP CLASS will also use this format.
Because CFPA is accommodating 1-1 programming in a group class setting, we are utilizing all of our instructors, teaching assistants, teaching apprentices and substitute teachers to make this possible for you. HUGE THANKS to our STAFF for making themselves available to make this programming possible!
how long will this last?
In Level 4, no in person group activities are allowed. Groups meet virtually. One on one appointments can be in person at the studio, or clients can meet virtually by request!
In Level 3, we will be allowed to have group arts programs operating at 25% Capacity, which means we will have to rotate the students who attend group rehearsal each week.

what this will look like for you as a student:
Week 1
Group Meeting with my Cast or Class (virtually for now… but once we reach level 3, I can go into the studio with my cast in person; in level 2, we should be able to go back to the studio in person at full capacity!)
—-> The virtual group classes are for learning group choreography, putting the moving parts together, rehearsing songs and learning harmonies. When we are allowed to move back in the studio and operate at reduced capacity, we will start a biweekly hybrid learning system: 1-on-1 coaching for the first week (access to videos and online materials during the week), and an in person group class for the second week. And then eventually we will all meet back at the studio together in our original class groupings! :)
Week 2
1-on-1 Coaching with my Mentor. Location is my choice: in person or virtual options available. I login to My Music Staff to see who my mentor is and what time I am meeting them; their email is provided in MMS in the calendar under our appointment, so I can check in with them for any reason. They will assist me in creating a student my music staff profile so I can access all my material, show me how to access the medleys and class materials, and explain character motivation, listen to me sing through my songs, and advocate for me if I need anything! During my online week, they’ll check in to see if I need any help with what was posted virtually that week and answer any questions I may have.
—> The in-person (or virtual) 1-1s are for making sure students are good with their roles, going over any speaking or singing roles they have and making sure they know how to access them.
what are the benefits?
MENTORSHIP! Every student is assigned a 1-1 Coach. The student (learner) is being mentored by a teaching assistant or instructor (advanced learner). This is a heuristic approach that fosters growth, team building, leadership opportunities, and encourages individualized attention for our performers who need online support and extra wellness checks during the lockdown period. This is to ensure no student gets left behind: everyone will have an advocate, cheerleader, motivator and somewhere to direct questions if they are struggling with a specific section of material. All mentors report back to Courtney, Calyssa and Aimee, the Directors of the Broadway Performance Program.
SOCIALIZATION :) Every other week, students will meet with their assigned Cast and the Open Performance Ensemble to rehearse their Broadway medleys. We will tackle all of our group material, including part singing, harmonies, choreography, blocking and fitting all of our individual pieces together. If there are any questions, they can be brought to the student’s mentor or brought to the class instructor!
