At Courtney Fowler Performance Academy, we believe that connecting with our community matters. Through our Community Matters Program we offer youth in Newfoundland and Labrador an opportunity to perform, share, and serve their community by using our resources as a performance arts studio!
This program has been made possible due to the generous volunteer work from our amazing teachers and functions in an entirely non-profit capacity.

Our Values
inclusion
One of our primary goals is to make performance education accessible for all people. In every aspect, CFPA aim's to offer fair pricing that balances supporting our teachers with accessibility for our students.
Opportunity
We want to provide a platform for everyone to have an opportunity to perform! We are also striving to serve emerging theatre artists by helping them develop their skills through mentorship.
Sharing
Because our love of performance is at the core of what we do- we are always trying to find a way to share that joy with our community. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is a more important time than ever to
What we do
Producing theatre for allWe have a focus on producing theatre that showcases the talent in our community- catering to the specific needs and skills of the young artists who work with us. Because of this, we are able to provide a platform for people to shine.
Wherever possible, we try to use our resources to fundraise for other non-profits and charities who need our help. |
Diversity & Inclusion training
One of the most impactful ways that we contribute to our community is through diversity and inclusion training. We have always strived to offer a safe space for marginalized students, but we want to continue to foster inclusion in our communities by educating those around us. We support people regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity, ability, or any other marginalization, and celebrate all of our differences!
Theatrical Education for underprivileged youth
Through the CFPA: Community Matters Program, we have been able to offer free community choir for adults over the past three years. One of our goals is to be able to offer a similar service for children in our province.
Additionally, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, this year we are implementing a new program which will offer free performance classes to children in low socio-economic households who are unable to partake in public theatrical education, through school, due to the restrictions put in place by NLESD.

Employment opportunities for young theatre artistsProviding young theatre artists opportunities with employment in theatre is an investment in the artistic practice of tomorrow. At CFPA, we strive to hire young artists in mentorship positions whenever possible. Through the Community Matters Program we believe we will develop more employment opportunities for youth theatre artists in our community.
