3 options for enrolment:
Ensemble (formerly Open Performance, OP): Students perform an Ensemble Role (a supporting role that sings, dances, and acts within the cast as a group) in Cast A and B, performing the same role for both shows.
ELEVATED SINGING & ACTING: Leads (formerly Advanced Performance and Drama, APD): Students perform a Lead Role (a character in a musical that sings, dances and acts front and centre on stage), an Ensemble Role (a supporting role that sings, dances and acts within the cast as a group), alternating their roles within Cast A and B. Every role is doubled in our production so that each student has an understudy and peer learning partner. Dedication and commitment to practice at home is required in order for the student to succeed in this program.
ELEVATED DANCING: Dance Chorus (DC): Students perform as the dance chorus in the musical. Dance Chorus students perform within the Ensemble with an elevated dance role.
4 WEEKS INSTEAD OF 10 MONTHS! Students take 30 minute one on one lessons with a dance instructor, acting instructor, and vocal instructor (for a total of 90 minutes back to back) for 4 weeks to fine tune their skills and individual technique using SMART goals (decided by the student). Perfect for Kiwanis, Competition or Audition preparation.
songs from broadway 7 & COVID-19
SFB7 will be the same format as SFB4! CFPA returns to class collaboration and a multi-medley show at a venue big enough to host us all!
Our Songs from Broadway 7 will be hosted at a large capacity theatre (preferably Holy Heart Theatre or Arts and Culture Centre, availability pending). SFB7 sees full cast numbers with weekend rehearsals for choreography and blocking, individualized lead rehearsals, and more rehearsal time leading up to the show. Students stage, run a cue-to-cue, have a dress rehearsal for each cast, THEN launch our production to audiences. This week leading up to showtime is called Production Week and all of our students are required for their tech times in order to perform in the show.
is this CLASS for you?
All that students need in order to excel in the program is a desire to learn, a love of music and theatre, and a dedicated at-home practice routine. Students often come home with small scripts or songs in need of memorization (note that lead roles require a lot more preparation). This class pairs well with students who are learning dance and vocal technique that want more stage time, community outreach, and opportunities to perform.
