Private Lessons

Adam is a versatile musician and teacher, and can teach any style of music on a variety of instruments. He has worked with the Royal Conservatory classical program and has taught rock, folk, country and jazz for many years. At our first lesson we'll discuss what you hope to learn and set some goals. Adam encourages students to learn music in a well rounded way by learning to read printed music, ear training, scales, theory, technical excercises on the instrument, and playing a wide range of songs/pieces.

teaching philosophy
by adam foran

For me, playing music is about discovering what's possible and constantly pushing our own limits. Learning to play is a lifetime journey where each new discovery builds on the ones that came before it. Having played and created music for 35 years now, I'm still constantly surprised by new ideas from other performers and in my own work. Music has the power to make us feel so many different things, and I believe that becoming a musician means learning how to control this power, to make the audience feel what we feel. In teaching I aim to share this love of discovery and to give students the tools to develop their own skill and appreciation of all kinds of music.
